Retail Regret:

I am in need some reader feedback of the fashion variety...

When I originally saw this darling poof-ball of a feather headband at work I was ga-ga for it! My co-workers where incredibly less enthused, but swore up and down that they adored it on me... So I purchased it. I have attempted to wear it once but ended up leaving it behind in the car before I went out in public. I'm not sure why I am so hesitant, but I'd love to hear your opinion!

So what do you think? Should I go with my original fashion intuition and rock the feathers?

Confirmation:

This image from The Satorialist settles it...

Distressed denim and a pair of oxfords are on my short list of necessary items to add to my wardrobe.

Christmas Wish List:

Here is thing that I definitely wouldn't mind having old Saint Nick leave underneath my tree in a few weeks...

The Anna Sheffield Arrow Two Finger Ring that I've been coveting for months:

Yeah, I want it. Badly.

All About The Perks:

When I told you lovely readers about my job at J. Crew, I also promised to share some of my amazing purchases. Well, here are a few of my favorite new additions to my wardrobe:

Rolling the sleeves on this butterscotch blazer makes it pair perfectly with about anything.

With a long sweater and some boots or flats, these pixie pants are comfortable and cute.

Winter white wool mini... Colorful and textured tights... Enough said.

My co-workers are absolutely darling, the discount is phenomenal, and even as a part-time employee I receive pretty great health benefits! It has been quite exhausting to work a 50 hour work week with my other job only to end up folding cashmere sweaters for an additional 15 hours, but I definitely enjoy the perks of my position!

Vintage Birds:

I just bought this from this Etsy shop...

I cannot wait to find a beautiful frame for it! Hopefully it will arrive soon...

(This peacock obsession that I have may or may not be becoming slightly unhealthy. Oh well.)

Improved Sleeping:

With Lily about to turn two years old and being an only child now, I figured it was time to invest in some legit bedding. (She used to have a nasty habit of getting in cahoots with my ex-boyfriend's dog, Emerson, and tearing up sheets, pillows, and the whole nine. I went through 3 comforters in less than six months once. It was awful.)

I travelled to Atlanta to go to IKEA for this very purpose and here is Lily trying it out:

I love the mustard sheets with the light blue and white. And yes, Lily sleeps in the bed:

This is my new favorite picture of my little girl:

The down comforter is super fluffy and I feel like I am cuddling with clouds! I have slept like a baby the two nights that I have enjoyed them thus far. I'm totally in love with my bed...

Wearing Today:

I am wearing this dress today:

I picked it up from my favorite shop in Athens, Encore, last week, but it hasn't been warm enough for me to wear it. It's a little darker in real life and I paired it with some brown leggings since it's about 60 degrees here in Georgia today.

I like it.

Rush Delivery:

After I discovered that my previous favorites are both on back-order until mid-April, I finally made a decision and this bathing suit was ordered a few days ago for my beach getaway:

Here's hoping that it makes it in time to actually come with me!

(From here.)

A Novel Idea:

One of the things I am looking forward to most about my upcoming beach getaway? Reading... for pleasure! No boring texts about the Persian War or the agricultural woes of Africa, just some good old novels to enjoy! Here is what I think I will be taking with me to the Virgin Islands:

"Dangerous Liaisons" by Chonderlos de Laclos

"Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen

"Life of Pi" by Yann Martel

"Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka

"Post Office" by Charles Bukowski

Those should keep me busy for 8 days, right? Let me know if you have read any of these or if you have any other suggestions for me! (But if you recommend "Confessions of a Shopaholic" I might have to shun you from this blog. Just don't do it...)

(By the way, my most sincere apologies for the awful title pun... I couldn't help myself. But seriously, I'm sorry.)

A Genius Idea:

I am thinking that immediately following graduation I should spend and entire weekend doing an Arrested Development marathon, complete with chocolate-dipped bananas (10 cents for nuts!) and maybe even an illusion or two (because tricks are what a whore does for money... or coke.)

The season DVD's are pretty cheap and by the time May rolls around I am going to desperately need a ridiculously lazy weekend filled with witty humor.

Yup, sounds like a solid investment to me.

Ayo Technology:

After filling out my taxes, I had the urge to make a big purchase. The cash hadn't even hit my bank account yet and it was already burning a hole in my pocket.

Anyways, I decided that I needed this in my life:

While I was still weighing the pros and cons, a coworker of mine had this to say: "Get one. It is the future." He wasn't lying... this thing has been blowing my mind for two days now. I know that I am way behind the trend and everyone has seen what these things are capable of, but I really wasn't as informed as I believed myself to be... It is the single most intelligent and amazing piece of technology that I have ever seen. It blows the pans off remote-controlled drapes, for sure.

Now excuse me as I slowly morph into one of those people who can't even sit through a movie without checking their e-mail.

**UPDATE: What the *%&#?! iPhones don't send picture messages?! Ugh. It's one true flaw, for sure, but it is kind of a big one, no? (Supposedly Apple is working on an application to solve this common complaint... but how long is that going to take!?)

*The title of this post is in homage to the only 50 Cent song I have ever really liked. (Even though my love probably only stems from JT being in it as well...)

Getting Suited for Bathing:

With my trip quickly creeping up and the thought of sun and sand helping me to get through these miserably cold days, it goes without saying that bathing suit shopping has been on my mind.

I really like this Anthropologie suit but I'm not a fan of the way it pulls the boobies apart. I don't have too much going on in that department so I feel like this one would make me look flat as a board.
(From here.)

Per usual, I'm finding the cutest suits at Victoria's Secret. Unlike the usual, I'm finding this solid-colored bikini irresistible! The back is kind of sophisticated-sexy and I really like the sides of the bottoms as well.
(From here.)

I love the print and bonus: it's in my favorite color! Woot! Oh yeah, this one is even on sale! We've definitely got a winner...
(From here.)

What are some other great places for bathing suits? Any suggestions, ladies? I need to order a couple in the next week or two to be sure they come in plenty of time before I leave...

The Goods:

Okay, so if I am hoping to go on a tropical getaway with some of my favorite ladies, there are some things I am definitely going to need... Like all this stuff:

($86.00 from here.)

($28.00 from here.)

($78.00 from here.)

($49.50 from here.)

($38.00 from here.)

(Oh, and this trip is starting to look all the more likely with three of my best girlies already agreeing to a crazy spring break! Wahoo!)
