The power of Mother Nature

PARADISE …

 PARADISE LOST

Mum has followed the path of Hurricane Irene tracking its way along the American East coast, avidly watching every news bulletin.  Many of my readers would have been directly in its path and we crossed fingers and toes wishing them safe.  It brought back memories of the devastation our own Cyclone Yasi wreaked in north Queensland earlier this year.  For Mum, photos of Hinchinbrook Marina reinforced how much power was unleashed and were etched in her mind.

 ONE LONESOME YACHT

 TOSSED AROUND LIKE TOY BOATS

Our Purrs and Prayers go out to our American friends, especially those who lost family and friends.

Love, Mum, Lily and The Kids

Mother Nature is rough sometimes. We used to live on the coast and ran from many a hurricane. They sure do a lot of damage. Those pictures are so sad. Lily, you sure are pretty. Take care and have a wonderful day.

Thank you Marg. I know Mum wouldn’t head any further north for that same reason. If the cyclones get down this far they’ve weakened into a storm. I’m a big enough namby pamby as it is … I’d be psycho kitty in a cyclone!

We survived- didn’t even lose power, although lots of people nearby weren’t so lucky!
Thank you for thinking of us and everyone in the path of Hurricane Irene.
Take care,
Toby and Cupcake

Hi guys, glad you came through safely. I think both our countries have had enough bad weather for quite a while, so paws crossed Spring is good for us and Autumn for you.

We were in the direct path of Hurricane Irene and QM was terrified. She is a weather buff and loves to track storms and usually New Jersey gets “tail ends” of hurricanes, but when she saw the New York City ordering evacuation, well…QM could have used a stiffener of the alcoholic variety – or a few!
Or Mom II, ML stayed online and kept QM calm throughout the storm, and it turned out to be a lot of over-exaggeration, but people listened and for the most part stayed safe in our area.
The pictures of the marina made QM very sad – all those beautiful boats destroyed. Mother nature can be very violent, and also very soft and kind, like the weather since Monday here in New Jerssey, purrfect. Guiess we need to accept good with bad, but good is paws down better!
This weekend marks our last long official weekend of summer holidays.
Next comes fresh apples and apple fritters, pies, pizzas (yeah, strange!) and anything else from QM’s – uh – creative mind!
Have a Blessed incoming Springtime in Queensland!

Thanks for visiting and your lovely comment. I’m glad you were safe but these hurricanes/cyclones/floods are so unpredictable I guess the authorities err on the side of caution. I guess better to expect the worst and hope for the best. Sadly, for a lot of folk they got the worst. Even though there were shocking images of the houses lost in our cyclone and floods this year, something about those boats being tossed around like confetti is unforgettable. On a happier note, Mum would love the recipe for apple pizza! Visit again soon …
